Kaiser Permanente in both Northern and Southern California also received four stars — the highest possible rating — in the “Members Rate Their HMO” category, which measures patient satisfaction with their care and service.
The 2012 report card
provides California consumers with side-by-side comparisons of the nine largest health plans in the state, ranking them on national standard-of-care measures that involve treatment of a range of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care that has long-term implications on personal health.
10 Kaiser Permanente Northern California Hospitals Honored by National Quality-Measurement Group.

Ten Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals have been named 2011 Leapfrog Top Hospitals, an honor that rewards medical centers for outstanding success in such areas as using electronic health records to reduce medication and other errors, lowering infection rates, maintaining appropriate physician and nursing staffing, and other measures of safety and efficiency.

Training the next generation of excellent physicians
Good training is critical to producing excellent doctors, and we’re proud that more than 200 residents come to Kaiser Permanente Northern California every year to hone their skills. Our medical residency program is one of the nation’s largest, with 14 subspecialties that include internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and pediatrics.
For 50 years, the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research has been dedicated to understanding and improving the health of Kaiser Permanente members and its communities. Through the decades the division has sustained its commitment to the science of population health with the publication of more than 3,000 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and many other clinical publications.
