2014 Women's Night Out

Dispelling common myths and providing information to help women live happy healthy lives is the goal of this year's Women's Night Out, an annual event presented by Kaiser Permanente in Modesto and Stockton to help celebrate Women's Health Month in May.

This year's theme is "Knowledge is Power." The event is open to both members and non-members.

“There is a lot of misinformation floating around the internet and on television pertaining to women's health issues, immunizations, and diets,” said Elizabeth Kass, MD, Kaiser Permanente’s Assistant Physician-in-Chief for Health Promotion and Innovation in the Central Valley. “We invite our members and the community to come in and learn the facts to empower themselves to make informed health decisions for them and their families.”

The format is casual – guests can drop in and visit interactive booths and displays, enjoy some beverages and light appetizers, and engage Kaiser Permanente experts from Women's Health, Health Education, Nutrition, Mental Health, and more. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., there will be a moderated panel discussion answering questions on the following topics:

  • Nutrition: Gluten-free diets, Paleo diet, Coconut oil/water
  • Pediatrics: Immunizations
  • Mental Health: The "Sandwich Generation"
  • Women's Health: Sex and libido

"We encourage everyone to attend this fun, dynamic event," continued Dr. Kass. "There's so much good information shared, and our guests always seem to have such a great time."
