Community Benefit Program
The East Bay Area Community Benefit Program provides funding to community based nonprofit organizations through responsive grants and sponsorships for community events to local nonprofit health and human service organizations with an emphasis on underserved populations.
The selection of our funding priorities is supported by a comprehensive needs assessment, which includes a qualitative data analysis, and input from local residents and community leaders. The following priorities were selected to address the health needs of community members residing in areas served by the Oakland and Richmond East Bay Area Medical Centers:
Prevention and early intervention for mental illness and substance abuse
Prevention of violence
Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and support for improvements in sexual health
Prevention of obesity and overweight and resulting chronic conditions
Decrease the disparity in asthma hospitalizations
Grant recipients are required to submit two evaluation/progress reports to serve as an update on the status and results of the program/project funded. Continued grant funding is contingent on the receipt of these reports.
