Flu Clinic
Flu vaccine clinics temporarily suspended
Like most health care providers across the country, Kaiser Permanente has experienced a high demand this year for both the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines. All forms of vaccine supplies for H1N1 and seasonal flu are depleted. Kaiser Permanente is working with the state of California to obtain the next allocation, but it is not known when that will be. Once supplies are replenished, information on availability for members and guidance on which high priority member groups need to receive H1N1 vaccine will be provided.

DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND, manufacturers have been having trouble keeping up with requests for the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccines. Until you are able to receive a vaccination, consider practicing these prevention tips to help avoid getting the flu:
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
Stay home if you get sick. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Who should get a flu shot?
Everyone in your household should get a yearly seasonal flu shot, but they are especially important for:
children 6 months old up to their 19th birthday
anyone 50 or older
anyone with a chronic health condition
pregnant women
health care workers
anyone living with or caring for someone in one of the above high-risk groups or with a child under 6 months old
When is a flu vaccination not appropriate?
If you have a severe allergy to eggs, a history of Guillain Barré syndrome, or experienced a severe reaction to a prior flu vaccination (not just redness or swelling at the injection site), please discuss flu vaccination with your physician.
Flu vaccination is free for all Kaiser Permanente members. Please bring patient's membership card and wear a short-sleeved shirt for faster service.
