The Breast Lump Clinic

Our vision and goals for patient care:

Our vision is the fast diagnosis and treatment of women with breast lumps.  We know that getting a quick answer reduces stress during a very anxious time.  Our goal is to have a diagnosis for the patient with a breast lump within two weeks of the patient’s first contact with any Kaiser employee.

Services:

All providers use ultrasound to examine breast lumps.  In addition, a preliminary test (fine needle aspiration) can often be done during the first appointment.  If needed, the provider can schedule you for urgent mammogram and ultrasound appointments in the radiology department.

When the Breast Lump Clinic is not the best place to call:

If you do not have a breast lump and have any of the following, please contact your primary care provider or gynecologist:

  •  Breast pain without a lump

  •  Clear nipple discharge

  •  An abnormal mammogram

If you are a man with a breast or chest lump, please contact your primary care provider.

If you have a personal history of breast cancer and have a new lump, please contact your surgeon or oncologist.
