Our mission is to promote and support the medical center educational programs for leadership, staff, and student development.
Kaiser Permanente is proud to contribute to the educational programs in our community by providing placement opportunities for students; so they graduate as well-prepared healthcare professionals/workers.
At the Fremont, San Leandro, Hayward, and Union City Medical Centers, our student placement process ensures that students are oriented to our facilities and operate within regulatory agency guidelines and medical center policies and procedures.
All student externships/internships go through a Kaiser Permanente Student Placement Coordinator.
To ensure adequate supervision and support to students, placement is at the department manager’s discretion based on the current staffing and operational needs.
Students will not be placed in a department if it would have a negative impact on patient care and/or the student's learning experience.
