ADHD Parent Support and Education Group

Come learn about ADHD, its signs and symptoms, medications, and strategies for managing ADHD at home and school. This six session program, in a support group environment, helps you establish behavioral systems at home to enhance your family’s coping skills. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Resources

Child Life Programs

Child Life specialists are available to help prepare children and their families for hospitalization and procedures. This includes providing education, helping dispel misconceptions, promoting sibling support, and providing preadmission tours. Our specialists can also provide emotional support and help advocate for family-centered care. Members only.

Happy First Birthday!

Celebrate this important milestone by joining this special half-hour class. You’ll learn about nutrition, temperament, growth and development, limit-setting, and sleep recommendations for 1-year-olds, as well as other resources for families. You will also receive a 12-month well-child visit with your child’s pediatrician immediately following the class. Members only. Available in Spanish.

Help Me Communicate

In this class, you’ll learn about different ways your child communicates, how language develops, and strategies you can use to help your child learn to communicate. For parents of children 12 to 36 months. Members only.

Mommy and Me

Meet other new moms and their babies in this group, which is facilitated by a certified lactation consultant. Discuss breastfeeding, sleeping, crying, adjusting to parenthood, and more. Open to the community.

Nourished Family

Learn as a family about fitness, healthy meals and snacks, and how to stick with healthy habits even through challenging times. Expect to do physical activity during the class. Designed for middle- and high-school-age children and their parent(s) or other primary caregiver.  Members only.  Spanish interpreter is available

Kung Fu Fun

In this class - for kids 9 to 17 learn simple martial arts exercises and experience the rewards fo feeling better, stronger, and more confident.  Open to the community Your family will set specific goals and your pediatrician will follow up.

Move, Dance, Play Group

Learn how to be active indoors with your little one. Parents are welcome to join the fun! Animal play, hula hoops, bubbles, balls, dancing, and music— what could be more fun? Great ways for child and parent to exercise while having a great time. For children aged 2–5 years. Members only.

Nutrition to Thrive

Temperament Program for Children (6 months to 12 Years)

Because each child is unique in his or her feelings and behaviors, it’s important to understand your child’s particular temperament. This will make parenting easier and will help you avoid or minimize behavioral problems.  Our Hayward Pediatrics Department can help you develop a profile of your child’s temperament, including information and suggestions about how to handle issues that may occur.  Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.

Young Atheletes: Injury Prevention for the ACL

Preventing ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury helps young athletes stay on the field and avoid unnecessary surgery, including a long rehabilitation before returning to playing sports. It may also prevent premature arthritis, for which there is no cure. For a fun, challenging, and effective exercise program that can lower risk of an ACL injury, go to my doctor.  Open to the community.

 

Zumba for Kids

This energetic and fun cardio workout combines Latin rhythms and easy-tofollow moves to create a one-of-a-kind
fitness program for kids and teens.  Open to the community.
