Smoking & Tobacco Cessation

 

Participation in these programs may qualify members with supplemental drug coverage to receive prescribed tobacco cessation medications at their usual medication cost share. Benefits may vary. Please check with Member Services first. If you qualify and are interested, contact your doctor for a prescription. 

Quit Tobacco Workshop

This one-session workshop is designed to help you develop your own quit plan. In a positive, no-pressure environment, learn about the nature of addiction, cessation strategies and medications, and ways to prevent relapse. Open to the community.

Quit Tobacco Services

Need help quitting smoking or tobacco? Quitting cold turkey can be tough. Visit kp.org/tobaccomedications to learn about medications that can help you feel better and cope with withdrawal symptoms. Or go to kp.org/breathe  to participate in our free, online tobacco cessation program for members. For one-on-one advice and support for members from a clinical health educator, call 510-795-3055 (Fremont) or 510-784-6051 (Hayward/Union City).

 

Freedom from Tobacco Series 

Declare your freedom and join our tobacco cessation program.  Learn about the nature of nicotine addiction, how to develop a personal quit plan, and how to deal with withdrawal. Participation in this program qualifies members with prescription drug coverage to receive tobacco cessation medications at their usual drug cost share. Open to the community.

Books, pamphlets, and videos are available in the Health Education Center to purchase or use in the center. Hayward and Union City locations have some materials for lending.
