The West Wing Cast Reunites in Support of Walking
An all-star cast of The West Wing, had a reunion to film a humorous public service announcement to promote walking. They all generously donated their time. Actor Allison Janney does the voice-over for many of our Thrive messages and talks about how the country should create a “walking agenda.” The video is a collaboration between the comedy website Funny or Die and Kaiser Permanente's Every Body Walk! campaign. The message aims to get people up and walking — 30 minutes a day, five days a week — to improve overall health and meet adult physical activity recommendations. The West Wing cast is no stranger to walking, as the show is noted for creating the fast paced “walk-and-talk” format. Watch the two-minute video.
Every Body Walk! offers tools to help you start or improve a walking program. Resources can be found at everybodywalk.org
- find health information, walking maps, links to walking groups, inspirational videos, and a personal pledge designed to motivate walkers. You can also pick up the Every Body Walk! mobile app, as a free download from the Apple Store and Android Market, which allows users to track the time and distance walked and the calories burned.
