Managing Your Weight

Successful weight loss requires more than just cutting calories. Learn how making healthy lifestyle choices, including regular exercise, proper nutrition, and a positive attitude, can help you lose weight and keep it off. Lifestyle and Weight Management Program

Feel better and enjoy a more positive self-image as you develop a healthier lifestyle. This in-depth program is designed to help you improve your health through permanent lifestyle changes. It provides guidance and support for physical activity, healthy eating, stress management, communication skills, and strategies for maintaining your progress. Prerequisite: Managing Your Weight or an appointment with a clinical health educator. Taught by a registered dietitian. Open to the community.
Sessions: Ten Mondays or 10 Thursdays, 6–8 p.m.
Fee: Members, $100; nonmembers, $250; materials included

KP KIDS(TM)
Weight Management Program

KP KIDS is a complete health promotion program that helps to improve the ways families eat and exercise. It is designed for children 6 to 12 and their families. KP KIDS meets weekly for six weeks. Each session is 1.5 hours, divided into 30 minutes of nutrition education, 30 minutes of physical activity, and 30 minutes of behavior change education. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.

KP Teens
Weight Management Program

The program is designed for Kaiser Permanente members 13 to 17 who are overweight. A team consisting of a teen health educator, a physical therapist, and a registered dietician work with teens on making healthy eating choices and on exercises. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.
Sessions: Twelve sessions, Thursday, 5:30–7 p.m. The first class is an orientation at which you can decide if this program is right for you and commit to the three-month program.

Medical Weight Management Program

This fee-based program uses a lowcalorie meal replacement diet, medical monitoring, and weekly group sessions to help you make positive, lasting changes that can improve your overall health. The program focuses on nutrition, physical activity, behavioral change, and how to adapt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you have 40 or more pounds to lose, join us for a free information session to find out whether the program is right for you. Open to the community.

Weight loss surgery: Preparing for Success

This class is a single-session workshop for members and their support persons who are interested in learning about the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery, as well as the lifestyle changes necessary for long-term success. Participants are introduced to the physiological, emotional, and lifestyle changes that take place with weight loss surgery. They are also guided through their own individual decision-making process in order to determine whether to pursue surgery as the best form of treatment. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.
