ADHD Overview for Parents

If your child has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or if you have questions about it, this class can help. Session 1 will help with information about the disorder, current treatments, and medications. Sessions 2 and 3 will address home and school management skills that may be helpful. These classes may be taken as single-session classes, monthly, or as a sequenced series within one month. May be taken as individual sessions or as a series. No children please. Open to the community.

  • Session 1: Understanding ADHD: History, Definitions, Medications, Q&A. Prerequisite for sessions 2 and 3.
  • Session 2: Home Management Skills: Problems and Positive Behavior Change
  • Session 3: Helping Your Child Succeed— School Management Skills

Sessions: Three 2.5-hour sessions, monthly
Fee: Members, no fee; nonmembers, $25 per session

Healthy Eating, Active Living for Kids and Families

Healthy eating and exercise habits begin with the family. We’re here to help you and your children age 7–12 develop a healthy lifestyle together. In this overview, we cover basic nutrition and strategies on how to increase energy and fitness with activities the whole family can enjoy. Parents need to attend with their child and will learn how to be healthy role models. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.

Stress Reduction Series for Teens

Are the teen years proving to be a challenging time for you or your teen? This class for parents and teens age 14–18 focuses on understanding teen stress and how to successfully handle common family problems. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.

Teen Clinic

Health care services offered in the Teen Health Center for our members age 13 to 17 include general physical examinations for school, college, camp, and work; sports physicals; health screenings; and treatment of minor illnesses. The Teen Clinic provides counseling for personal and family problems, alcohol and drug issues, birth control, and pregnancy. Pamphlets, videos, and immunizations are available. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.

Sessions: Monday - Friday, 3:30 - 5:30pm

Understanding your child’s asthma

Taking care of a child with asthma can be a big challenge. It helps to know how to avoid asthma triggers. Your child can live a healthy and active life when you know how to manage asthma symptoms. This class will help you learn to recognize warning signs by monitoring symptoms
and using a peak flow meter. It also covers the types of asthma medications available and how to use a spacer. Children, teens, and parents or caregivers of children with asthma are welcome to attend. Taught by a pediatric asthma case manager. Also available at Gilroy. Open to Kaiser Permanente members only.
