The mission of Santa Clara Medical Center Stroke Program is to provide high quality stroke care for our community. We focus on stroke prevention, acute treatment and rehabilitation using evidenced-based medicine. Our success comes from our team of dedicated healthcare professionals, patients and their families working together.
Stroke Prevention:
- ACT F.A.S.T. (Stroke is an Emergency. Every minute counts.)
- Face (Does one side of the face Drop? Ask the person to smile.)
Arms (Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?)
Speech (Is speech slurred? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is the sentence repeated correctly?)
Time (If the person shows any of theses symptoms, Call 911 or get to the hospital immediately.)
