Information for Volunteers

Give the gift of time
If you can spare just four hours a week, we invite you to apply for one of the most satisfying jobs around: Volunteering at Kaiser Permanente.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Offer comfort and aid to people in need
  • Provide a service to your community
  • Gain experience in a health care setting
  • Acquire valuable skills
  • Make new friends

Benefits of being a volunteer
As a Kaiser Permanente Volunteer you may have access to Gift Shop, Pharmacy and Optical Discounts, along with awards, recognition, and social events.

Your volunteer time is flexible
We ask every volunteer to commit to one shift per week for a minimum of SIX MONTH or 100 hours. Hours may vary according to your service assignment. Weekday, weekend and evening hours may be available.

Are you eligible to volunteer?
We offer both student and adult volunteer programs. You don't need to be a Kaiser Permanente member to be a volunteer.

  • Student volunteers: High school students age 16 years to 17 years. Written parental consent is required for volunteers under 18.
The student program is very small and there is no guarantee that we will have a volunteer position available for everyone who applies.
  • Adult volunteers: Adults 18 years and over.

How to Volunteer
Volunteer Services is temporarily not accepting new applications for adults or high school students.  We anticipate reopening the new applicant process in Summer 2013.  Please revisit this page periodically for updates.
