Sheri D. Pruitt
Sheri D. Pruitt, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Director of Behavioral Science Integration for Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, California. She earned B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Oklahoma and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of New Mexico.
From 1993 until 1998, Dr. Pruitt was on faculty at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. She joined Kaiser Permanente in 1999 and in 2001 worked as a scientist for the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland. She is the principal writer for two WHO reports which outline global strategies for care of chronic conditions and is a member of the WHO Network of Innovators.
Dr. Pruitt is a writer, speaker, and consultant in the fields of health and behavior. She has published extensively in the area of behavioral medicine, examining the influence of behavior on health outcomes. She is co-author of a recently published consumer-oriented book on health behavior, "Stop Telling Me What-Tell Me How: The Simple Answer to Better Health."
Dr. Pruitt makes health a priority in her life. Her goal is fitness and the prevention of chronic health problems. She begins every day with a workout and she uses the behavioral skills described in this website to ensure she stays on track. She thinks "monitoring" is the most powerful skill and has a form posted on her refrigerator right now!
Nicole Berlant
Nicole Berlant, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and a Behavioral Medicine Consultant at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, California, where she designs programs to help patients optimize their health.
She attended the University of California, San Diego where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. In 2004 she completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Health Psychology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
Dr. Berlant has written numerous scholarly papers for peer-reviewed journals and contributed to text books. She is also a frequent presenter in the areas of motivation, positive psychology, and health behavior.
Dr. Berlant makes health a priority and believes in the motto "everything in moderation, including moderation". She keeps fit both mentally and physically by running and practicing yoga. Her favorite health strategy is having an exercise partner. Right now, she has two, her fiancé, her running rival, and her yellow lab, Buddy, her constant companion on the trail.
