Healthy Weight

Successful weight loss means reducing the number of calories you eat and increasing the number of calories you burn. But just knowing what works isn't enough. Having a plan that works for you turns knowledge into action and will help you shed excess pounds and keep them off.

About Healthy Weight Online Classes

Attend a class without leaving your front door? That’s what Kaiser Permanente’s new online weight management classes are all about. Get the benefits of an in-person class without the hassle of driving and parking or taking the bus. This multisession class is designed to help you adopt healthier lifestyle habits and shed those extra pounds.

  • The program is a 6-week online class series.
  • Healthy Weight Online classes are open to all Kaiser Permanente members ages 18 and over.
  • During the 6-week series, participants will learn to adopt healthier lifestyle behaviors and attitudes, while connecting with others who are also working on their weight.
  • Each class is 2 hours long. The first class includes an introduction to the online class environment.
  • A facilitator will guide the group discussion, but it’s really an opportunity for participants to discuss challenges, share ideas, and get support for building new skills and healthy habits.
Are Online Classes Right for Me?

Losing weight takes dedication and perserverence. Healthy Weight Online classes are a convenient way to find support while achieving your weight goals. Ask yourself a few questions to see if online classes are the right path for you.

  • Am I technologically savvy with my computer, a phone and Internet?
  • Do I prefer the online environment to attending a class in-person?
  • Am I willing to commit time and energy to taking better care of my health?
  • Am I ready and willing to change my lifestyle in order to achieve better health?
  • Are my expectations for weight loss success reasonable (1 to 2 pounds per week)?
  • Am I healthy enough for regular physical activity, such as walking? Am I willing to modify, plan, and track my daily eating and physical activity?
  • Am I able to devote the time for weekly group sessions, and am I willing to actively participate in group discussions?

If you answered yes to these questions, Healthy Weight Online classes may be a good choice for you.
