Successful weight loss means reducing the number of calories you eat and increasing the number of calories you burn. But just knowing what works isn't enough. Having a plan that works for you turns knowledge into action and will help you shed excess pounds and keep them off.
Below are some common questions and answers about preparing for your first class. We recommend reading this before registering. Being prepared can help ensure a great online experience.
What do I need to participate?
You will be able to join the class by using your computer (either a PC or Mac) with Internet access and a telephone (landline is best). Although a headset or earpiece is not required to participate, you may want one to talk comfortably at your computer. If using a PC, Internet Explorer is the recommended web browser. If using a Mac, we recommend Safari. Firefox is not recommended.
A few days before the online class starts, you will receive instructions on how to attend in an e-mail from Healthy-Weight@kp.org. If you don’t receive this e-mail, please check your spam folder or contact Regional Health Education at (510) 987-3155. We recommend printing out the instructions and class handouts before your first class.

Participate! Students consistently say that group discussion is one of the most valuable aspects of the online class. Please do your best to fully engage in group discussions and activities. Your instructor may call on you to ensure that everyone contributes to the online class experience.
