Head and Neck Surgery

As a surgeon, I believe in being a good listener, serving with joy and humility, and providing the best possible care I can in collaboration with my patients, support staff, and colleagues. I value my relationship with you. And I know that maintaining a good relationship means being able to communicate with each other. My colleagues and I have developed My Doctor Online so that we can stay in touch more easily.

Professional

Background

I completed my Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Music and Biological Sciences as well as my Master of Science degrees in Biology at Stanford University, then moved to the East Coast. While attending the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, I spent time in research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and helped organize a free medical clinic for the homeless at the Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV) shelter.

After graduating from medical school in 1992, I completed two years of General Surgery Residency at the University of Chicago before returning to California for my residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.

While at UC Davis, I developed a strong interest in oncology and stayed to complete a Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology/Skull Base Surgery. I joined the Kaiser Permanente in 2000.

Occasionally I will spend time at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto teaching the Stanford residents in Otolaryngology. I still maintain academic endeavors and have recently contributed a chapter in an Otolaryngology textbook.
