Background

A native Californian, I grew up in Pasadena attending public schools.  Music was a big part of my life before medical school and ran the gamut from jazz/fusion groups to three consecutive years marching in the Official Tournament of Roses Marching Band and many percussion gigs in between.  I became interested in ophthalmology during medical school when I was given an extraordinary chance to work with doctors in a large county hospital eye clinic. My interest in retinal surgery came from a long-term fascination with neurobiology and microsurgery.

After more than 17 years of experience in this field I can really appreciate the long years of training because I believe it is necessary to deliver the highest quality of care to patients with retinal problems. It is my goal to continually update my knowledge and skills to ensure that my patients receive excellent care. The continuing medical educational opportunities through Kaiser are abundant and one of the reasons I chose to be here. I also enjoy the enriching experience of working alongside the other superb physicians at Kaiser.

My Colleagues

My retinal colleagues are second to none.  Drs. Lam and Lahey continually “keep the bar high” when it comes to quality and service to all patients with retinal conditions.  It is a pleasure and honor to be able to work with people who I respect so much.  They are part of what keeps me going.  I would trust them with my own vision.
