Background

Thank you for visiting my homepage.

I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2002 and have been very happy with this decision ever since.  I feel fortunate to practice in a group that is focused on excellence and is constantly striving to improve, innovate and make things better and more convenient for our patients.

I was born in Utah, and my family moved to Morgan Hill, California when I was thirteen.  I graduated as the valedictorian of my high school class and went to Brigham Young University on an academic scholarship.  After my first year of college, I spent a year and a half in Venezuela, doing missionary service for my church.  I later received my degree in Zoology.  I received my medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine.  After medical school, I spent three years active duty in the Air Force, working in an emergency room to pay back the time I owed them for paying for medical school.  I did my dermatology residency in Tampa, Florida at the University of South Florida. After finishing my training, I joined a private practice in Southern California and later worked at the University of Utah.  After five years of practicing general dermatology, I decided that my favorite part of dermatology was doing surgery, so I took a year off and did a Mohs surgery fellowship in Pomona, New York.

I have special interest in all aspects of skin cancer, including prevention, treatment and surgical reconstruction after Mohs surgery.

I work with excellent colleagues and staff, and it is a pleasure to come to work every day.  I also have been blessed with wonderful patients.  Doing Mohs surgery, we often end up spending a lot of time with our patients and this gives me an opportunity to talk with them and learn about them and their life experiences. This also makes my job more interesting and satisfying.

I look forward to meeting you.
