Professional
Background
As a Public Health Nurse in Alameda County, I did immunizations, made home visits, and worked in the well baby and family planning clinics. However, I particularly enjoyed helping women with family planning and during their pregnancies. So I entered the Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of California, San Francisco, and in 1972, I became an NP specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1982, working first in Oakland, then Hayward, and now Fremont. I was a Kaiser Permanente patient myself, so I knew it was good medical care, and I wanted to be part of it. I like to get to know the women I see, and have a social visit along with the professional visit. Many of my patients have been with me a long time.
