Dermatology is a specialty of medicine that deals with the skin and its diseases. A dermatologist is a physician who specializes in skin care, both treating skin problems and keeping skin healthy. This includes skin, hair and nails.
How much training does a dermatologist have?
A dermatologist, after earning a medical degree and completing an internship, receives three more years of specialty training. A dermatologist is an expert in skin, hair, and nails. Some dermatologists receive additional training in specific areas, such as surgery or cosmetics.
What is a Registered Nurse Extender?
Registered Nurse Extenders (RNX) are registered nurses who have specialized training in Dermatology. RNX’s specialize in treating warts, acne and performing light treatments. RNS’s practice under physician supervision and collaborate and consult with the physician regularly.
How many people get skin disease?
The skin is the largest organ of the body. It is a good indicator of the overall health of the body. Nearly everyone develops some type of skin disease at some point in their lifetime.
What are the most common skin disorders?
Common skin diseases include acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and warts.
Can I review my lab results online?
Yes. You can view select test results, including the date the test was completed and information about the results.
Will I be able to see my biopsy results online?
No. Your doctor will want to talk with you about any abnormal results that may be related to your symptoms and medical history.
Yes. You can send secure, confidential e-mail to your doctor at any time during the day, night, or on weekends. We are usually able to respond to your messages within 48 hours. Since we're not in the office every day, it's best to contact our appointment and advice call center with any urgent concerns.
Are cosmetic procedures available?
Cosmetic Dermatology specializes in skin care treatments, such as Botox, fillers, laser hair removal, laser treatment of blood vessels and removal of benign skin growths as well as services such as skin care analysis and product consultations. Cosmetic services are not covered under medical benefits and are considered "fee for service."
How do I refill my prescriptions?
You can refill prescriptions online through the Prescriptions section on my Web site. To refill prescriptions using our mail-order service, fill out the preprinted order forms available at our pharmacies. By telephone, you can call the number on your prescription label. If you order online, by telephone, or by mail order service, you can get most of your refills delivered to your home, postage paid, within 7 to 10 days.
What do I do if I am out of refills?
If you have no refills left when you place your order, the pharmacy will contact me to request additional refills. Please allow an additional 2 business days to process your order when you have no refills remaining.
Your prescription bottle may say "0" refills, but if you called us in the past for a refill, you may have more refills available. You can check the prescription number online and see how many refills you have, or call us.
You will go to the Release of Information (ROI) Office. This office is part of Health Information Services and is responsible for releasing medical information in accordance with HIPAA and state regulatory requirements. The ROI office also processes EDD, FMLA, DMV forms, Employer and Health Assessment Forms for SSF KP Members only. The process begins with the member initiating their claim form at ROI office, Room #1-184.
