Common Questions About Dermatology

How can I refill my prescription?

To view your prescriptions,  scroll to the top of this page and click on the “Prescriptions” link in the upper left hand corner, under the “Manage & Schedule” heading.  This will take you to the kp.org sign-in site.

The best way to receive your prescription refill is by mail, at no additional charge! Please allow 7 - 10 days for mail delivery. You  may also pick up your medication at any of our pharmacies if you prefer. If no refills remain when you place your order, the pharmacy will contact me regardng your prescription.

To order your prescription refill online:
  
- From this page, click on "Prescriptions" under "Manage & Schedule" on 
     the left hand side.
   - Sign on to kp.org
   - Click on the "Continue to the Pharmacy Center" link.
   - Click on "Refill prescriptions" link

To order your prescription refill by phone:
Call Easyfill (refills by phone) at: 415-833-8151. Have your credit card, Kaiser Permanente ID card, and prescription number ready before you call.

If you are  out of refills:
If you have no refills left when you place your order, the pharmacy will contact me to request additional refills. Please allow an additional 2 business days to process your order when you have no refills remaining. Also, even if your prescription bottle says "0" refills you may have more refills available. You can check your  prescriptions on-line to see how many refills you have.

What is dermatology?

Dermatology is a specialty of medicine that deals with the skin and its diseases. A dermatologist is a physician who specializes in skin care, both treating skin problems and keeping skin healthy. This includes skin, hair and nails.

How much training does a dermatologist have?

A dermatologist, after earning a medical degree and completing an internship, receives three more years of specialty training. A dermatologist is an expert in skin, hair, and nails. Some dermatologists receive additional training in specific areas, such as surgery or cosmetics.

How many people get skin disease?

The skin is the largest organ of the body. It is a good indicator of the overall health of the body. Nearly everyone develops some type of skin disease at some point in their lifetime.

What are the most common skin disorders?

Common skin diseases include acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and warts.

Can I review my lab results online?

Yes. You can view select test results, including the date the test was completed and information about the results.

In accordance with California state law, biopsy results are not available online. Your doctor will want to talk with you about any abnormal results that may be related to your symptoms and medical history.

No. Your doctor will want to talk with you about any abnormal results that may be related to your symptoms and medical history.

Can I e-mail my doctor?

Yes. You can send secure, confidential e-mail to your doctor at any time during the day, night, or on weekends. We are usually able to respond to your messages within 48 hours. Since we're not in the office every day, it's best to contact our appointment and advice call center with any urgent concerns.

Are cosmetic procedures available?

Our Cosmetic Dermatology program specializes in consultations for skin care products as well as a wide variety of procedures. These include: chemical peels, microdermabrasion, botox, injection of fillers, and a large selection of laser procedures. 
Cosmetic services are not covered under medical benefits and are considered "fee for service." Please refer to the "Cosmetic Dermatology" link on the right hand side of this web page for more details.
