Professional

Background

I am an Infectious Diseases specialist, seeing hospitalized patients with infections that are difficult to manage. I also work at the Vaccine Study Center, researching old and new vaccines. As the consultant to our Regional Microbiology laboratory, I work with the lab to ensure quality tesing for Infectious Diseases. I am also active in research on antibiotic resistance. In addition, I work closely with Public Health and the Influenza Vaccine Program at Kaiser.

I love my job, and am grateful that I have the opportunity to practice medicine at Kaiser Permanente. The work can be very stressful, so I spend my time outside of work relaxing, usually doing some sort of physical activity. I love to walk and for relaxation and health I also practice yoga and Qi Gong.

I believe that the most meaningful change is a personal one. We can accomplish most by understanding and taking responsibility for ourselves. I encourage my patients to take charge of their own lives so that we can work together to maximize their health.
