Background

I chose to practice pediatrics because it is challenging, fulfilling and fun. I strongly believe in preventative medicine, a main principle philosophy that Kaiser Permanente upholds. Educating and encouraging kids and families about eating healthy and regular exercise at a young age are crucial in developing and fostering those healthy habits later in life and thereby improve their quality of life. The kids are young at heart and help me sustain that optimistic attitude that we can change to improve our lives.

I started working at Kaiser Permanente in Hayward in 1999 and truly enjoy working with my colleagues and staff and seeing a diverse patient population. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, mountain biking, hiking, cooking, sampling different ethnic foods—which are abundant in the Bay Area--and playing scrabble. I also enjoy volunteering for medical trips while traveling for pleasure. I have visited Vietnam, Peru and Cambodia in the past several years. In addition to speaking English, I speak conversational Vietnamese.
