Available doctor types
Adult Medicine
There are two types of Adult Medicine doctors - Internal Medicine and Family Medicine.
- Internal Medicine or "internists" provide diagnosis and medical care for adults and teens who are at least 18 years old.
- Family Medicine or "family practitioners" treat people of ages, often members of the same family. In addition, many family medicine doctors provide general gynecologic care for women such as pap tests, birth control needs, breast exams and menopause issues.
Pediatrics
There are two types of doctors for children - Pediatricians and Family Medicine.
- Pediatricians provide comprehensive health care, including routine preventive care services from birth to age 18.
- Family Medicine doctors treat children and adults, often members of the same family.
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Ob/Gyn doctors provide comprehensive gynecologic and obstetric care. Knowing that women have unique health needs and questions, we encourage women to select an Ob/Gyn doctor in addition to a primary care doctor in Adult Medicine.
