I became interested in ophthalmology as a specialty early on in my medical school career. I found that I enjoyed doing the intricate surgery and the immediate gratification that it offered to both my patient and me when I was able to improve their vision.

I moved to Northern Virginia in 1989 and joined the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group after completing my cornea fellowship in Chicago. It has been my privilege to practice at the Falls Church Medical Center ever since.

I believe that the integrated model of health care that is available here at Kaiser Permanente is the best way to practice medicine. Being able to communicate easily with my patients' other physicians through the electronic medical record, as well as directly with my patients on line, is invaluable.

I have a special interest and training in diseases and surgery of the cornea, but I also see patients of all ages for a variety of eye problems including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration, to name a few. My surgical interests are in the areas of cornea transplantation, cataract surgery, and pterygium surgery.
