NOTE:  The health and safety of our members is always our top priority. To focus our resources during the pandemic,  we have temporarily changed available services at certain medical centers. Go to kp.org/coronavirus for the latest.

Also, if you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to become a registered user on kp.org so that you can access care while remaining in the safety of your home (kp.org/register).  Whether it is getting mail order prescriptions, having virtual visits, or sending secure messages, our mobile app helps us remain connected at all times, but especially during this critical period.

I like being a physician because I have the opportunity to really connect with people in a long-term way and to help HIV+ people lead long and healthy lives. I joined the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group because the values of the group are the same as my values, including delivering the best care possible and a real commitment to improving the lives of our members and our community.

I have a special clinical interest in HIV that has spanned over 25 years. I lead HIV/AIDS in Kaiser Permanente nationally, as well as conducting HIV research. I place a strong emphasis on making sure all of my HIV+ patients get the care they need, are taking the right medications for them, and are leading productive and healthy lives. I use the results of my research to make sure my patients get the best care possible. Through this research, Kaiser Permanente has become recognized as one of the leaders in HIV care in the country. Others want to know how we do it. It is important to me that my patients benefit from those results.

It is important that my patients know I am not in the office every day, but I am never farther than a secure message away.

I look forward to partnering with you on improving your health and making the right decisions for you. Together, we will keep you well.

What My Patients Say

I've been seeing Dr. Horberg since 2011 and he is the most professional physician I've ever known. He listens and acknowledges concerns about my HIV situation. Together we've come up with the best possible treatment for myself and for years I have stayed undetectable and healthy. I never have a problem getting an appointment when I need one. Also, he has always been available 24/7 through email if I need to reach him for anything. I trust his knowledge and his experience with practicing medicine. Outside of HIV, I pretty much go to him with most of my medical needs. I highly recommend Dr. Horberg as an infectious disease specialist if you're in need of one. - AT
