Naming Your Baby

Naming Your Baby

Naming a child can be harder than you think, especially choosing a name you and your partner both like.

  • Make a list of the names each of you likes best.
  • Trade lists.
  • Cross off all names each of you really does not like.
  • If there are any names left, you are doing well. If not, repeat the process until you come up with names that are acceptable to both of you.

When you identify names, be sure to:

  • Write out the full name.
  • Say the name out loud.
  • Check the initials to make sure they do not spell out anything funny or lewd.

If you need help, search for names online or look through baby name books. You can buy popular baby name books or check them out from your local library.
