2015 Flu information

The flu is serious. Don’t pass it on!

The flu is much worse than a cold. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect you and your family from getting sick. Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control recommend a yearly flu vaccine for children 6 months to 18 years old and every adult.

Flu shots are available at all northern California medical facilities. There is no charge to Kaiser Permanente members for flu vaccines. Please remember to bring your member ID card, photo ID and wear a short-sleeved shirt for faster service.

Connected for Better Health Engagement

What medications are you and your family members allergic to? Are your children up to date on their immunizations? What were the instructions from your last doctor’s visit? What were your cholesterol readings over the past three years?

Finding the answers to these questions when you need them shouldn’t be hard. You can access all of this information and accomplish much more in the comfort of your home through a variety of Kaiser Permanente online tools. Online access to health information empowers members to become actively involved in their health care and connect with their care providers.
Kaiser Permanente members have several easy and convenient options to access their health information digitally, including My Health Manager on kp.org, and the KP Preventive Care App. You can also interact directly online with your care provider via E-Mail Your Doctor or even set up a Video Visit.

We invite you to stop by at one of the new Mobile Technology Learning Centers at the Fremont Medical Center or the Hayward-Sleepy Hollow Medical Offices to learn about the online tools that Kaiser Permanente offers so that you can access your health records, have greater flexibility to communicate with your doctor, and save yourself time and energy. At these information kiosks, staffed by the Health Education Department, you can also have your photo taken to add to your medical record, so your doctor and other care providers are able to become more familiar with you before and during your visit.

Ready, Aim, Smile - Member Photo Identification Program

At Kaiser Permanente, members are at the center of everything we do. As part of our continued efforts to provide the highest quality care and service, we are introducing the Member Photo Identification (MPI) program to add your photo to your individual secure electronic medical record.

We want all of our health care providers to be familiar with every member. By placing your photo into your medical record, your doctor and other care providers are able to become more familiar with you before and during your visit.

The next time you visit one of our medical centers, just look for one of our orange Smile! banners. A designated staff member will take your picture and upload it into your secure electronic medical record. This service is voluntary, free of cost to all of our members, and only takes 60 seconds or less.
