Commission on Cancer Accreditation

Jun 21, 2018

There are more than 1,500 Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited cancer programs in the United states. These programs:

  • Represent only 30 percent of all hospitals.
  • Treat more than 70 percent of all cancer patients.

All Kaiser Permanente Northern California facilities are accredited.

To earn this prestigious accreditation, a cancer program must:

  • Meet or exceed 34 operational management and quality of care standards.
  • Meet or exceed 12 eligibility requirements for cancer care services.
  • Be re-evaluated every 3 years.
  • Maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care.

When you seek care at a CoC-accredited cancer center, you gain access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer care close to home. Kaiser Permanente takes this one step further.

Our integrated health care system allows for true multidisciplinary care, from diagnosis to survivorship. We consider cancer a complex group of diseases requiring access to comprehensive treatment services and seamless coordination by our team of specialists.

Because of this approach, you have access to:

  • Clinical trials
  • New treatments
  • Genetic counseling
  • Patient-centered services

Our patient-centered services include:

  • Psychosocial support
  • Patient navigation and care coordination
  • Survivorship care

We improve your quality of life, both before and after cancer. These integrated partnerships result in improved patient care.
