Heart Healthy Survivorship

Apr 01, 2015

Seeds of Hope
Thanks to constant improvements in cancer care, cancer survivors are surviving and thriving longer than ever before.  Cancer treatments, as well as plain old aging, can contribute to weight gain, high blood pressure, and diabetes – all risk factors for heart disease.

We don’t just want you to survive cancer, we want you to thrive in every aspect of your health.

Please join us for our Seeds of Hope Cancer Survivors Day Conference and Celebration, "Heart Healthy Survivorship".

Enjoy educational sessions, booths, and activities focused on cancer survivorship and advances in cardiac care for the whole family. Celebrate with fellow survivors as well as physicians and staff from Kaiser Permanente’s Santa Clara Medical Center and San Jose Medical Offices.

The 2015 Seeds of Hope
Cancer Survivor's Day Conference and Celebration

Sunday, June 14, 2015
11:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, hormone suppression, and radiation therapy can impact heart health. Many of our recommendations for reducing the risk of cancer recurrence are in line with those for maintaining cardiac health. In collaboration with our cardiologists, our cancer care teams work to ensure that cancer patients can feel confident that their heart health is as much of a priority as the rest of their care.

At this event, you can learn about the amazing cardiac services available at Kaiser Permanente, as well as ways to strengthen and maintain heart health on your own.

Our keynote speaker and leader for two workshops will be Dr. Margot Davis, Director of the University of British Columbia’s Cardio-Oncology Program.

Margot is a cardiologist at Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and the Director of the University of British Columbia (UBC) Cardiology-Oncology Program. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physiology at McGill University in Montreal before attending medical school at the University of British Columbia. She stayed at UBC for her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship, and served as Chief Resident for both medicine and cardiology. She then completed fellowships in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology and Cardio-Oncology and Cardiac Amyloidosis at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Her research interests are focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiotoxicity related to cancer therapy and the epidemiology of heart disease in cancer survivors.
