Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis occurs when you gradually lose protective cartilage from your joints. Symptoms include pain, swelling and loss of motion in a joint. In the early stages, anti-inflammatory pain medications and regular exercise are effective ways to control the symptoms. As the disease progresses, however, many people will need medical treatment.
