Acupuncture is part of a larger body of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which I was drawn to through practice of Tai Chi and Chi Gong, study of mind-body medicine, study of Western and Chinese medicinal herbs, and my own experience of pain relief from acupuncture treatment. Finding that all of these passionate interests of mine converged within the scope of traditional Chinese medicine convinced me that I had found my calling.

I continue to be amazed by the powerful healing response of the body to such a gentle and non-invasive therapy as acupuncture and feel grateful that we are able to offer it to so many people here at Kaiser Permanente. I love to see the smiling faces of patients after their acupuncture treatment, when their pain has abated and they are able to get some much needed relaxation.

I obtained a master's degree in traditional Chinese medicine from Five Branches University, after completing a four year program of study. I then took the state licensing exam for acupuncture to become a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California. Previous to that, I also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Russian studies and completed pre-medical coursework.

In order to get the most out of your health care experience, I recommend that you take full advantage of the tools Kaiser Permanente provides you to take charge of your own health. Watch the acupuncture video by selecting the link to the right under Quick Links. Write down any questions you may have after watching the video and e-mail them to me or bring them to your acupuncture appointment. You may e-mail me after our initial visit, using the "E-mail Your Doctor" link on the left of my home page. You will be prompted to register for an online password if you have not done so.

Review the list of classes offered in the Healthy Living Catalog (on the right under Quick Links) to see if there’s one that can give you some needed tools to improve your health. Educate yourself about your particular health condition and what has been proven to improve your type of condition. Renew your commitment to your own better health everyday by making healthy choices, which over time, will become healthy habits.
