Professional

Background

I grew up in Fargo, ND with much of my childhood spent at our family lake cottage in northern Minnesota.  I was an avid cellist through college and majored in English literature at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.  I began pursuing medicine my senior year of college and was immediately interested in women's health.  I received my medical degree from the University of North Dakota.  I completed my residency in OBGYN at Maine Medical center.  I moved across country to attend the University of California, Davis to pursue my goal of training to become a gynecologic oncologist.  I loved northern California so much that I chose to stay and join the Kaiser Permanente system.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Gynecologic Oncologist, I do surgery for suspected or diagnosed cancers of the female genital tract (ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina, and vulva, as well as surgery on adjacent organs that may be involved (bowel, bladder, lymph nodes, etc.).  I also participate in teaching residents from the OBGYN program at UC Davis Medical Center who rotate through the Kaiser system
