I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio about 35 miles east of Columbus. I did my undergraduate training at Youngstown State University and my professional education was at The Ohio State University. This is where I met my wife and we began our journey together. I joined the U.S. Air Force after dental school and initially thought we would spend a few years in the Air Force and then move on to private practice. The opportunities to live in different locations, ability to do what I love and take care of our troops led me to stay for over 20 years. I completed my maxillofacial surgery residency training through the Air Force and eventually returned to the institution where I trained to become program director and chair of the department. The opportunity to train future maxillofacial surgeons while taking care of patients has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

During my transition from military to civilian life, I was thoroughly impressed with Kaiser Permanente.  The facilities, equipment, high standards of care, and staff were exactly what I wanted to be associated with and where I wanted my family to receive healthcare. I feel very fortunate to have been hired by Kaiser Permanente and will do everything I can to make sure you receive the best healthcare in the country. With my colleagues and resources here, I am confident you will find this the case.

I enjoy the full scope of practice in maxillofacial surgery that includes surgical correction of maxillofacial skeletal deformities, facial cosmetic surgery, surgery for pathologic conditions, facial trauma surgery, TMJ surgery, and surgeries for conditions such as craniofacial anomalies. I have a particular interest in orthognathic surgery and surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife watching our two children play on their sports teams. I love outdoor activities- hiking, biking, skiing, golfing, and even yard work. I am a college football fanatic and follow the pros pretty closely too.
