I was born back East but have been in California since grade school. I grew up in San Jose, where I attended high school before going to UC San Diego for college, UC Davis for medical school, and Harbor-UCLA for residency. After living in so many areas of California, I settled down near my family here in Redwood City.

Because I had an interest in so many fields when I was in medical school, especially critical patients, I chose a career in emergency medicine. Having practiced emergency medicine in a variety of hospitals, I chose Kaiser Permanente when I finished my residency. Being a Kaiser Permanente physician allows me to focus on you and providing the best patient care possible. In particular, the collaboration between colleagues at Redwood City makes practicing medicine enjoyable. Our electronic medical record provides key information from your past visits and tests, so that you and I quickly can develop a plan that best evaluates and treats your condition.

My specific interests are emergency medical services, acute stroke management, and opioid safety. I also am interested in continuous education and using the latest in evidence-based medicine to keep my practice up-to-date.

Roles and Responsibilities

I joined the Emergency Department in 1999 and became an Assistant Chief in 2002. I have represented our hospital at the county EMS agency since 1999 and have helped develop policies on how patients are managed in the pre-hospital setting. In 2014, I became Chief of the Emergency Department and then an Assistant Physician in Chief of Hospital Operations & the Continuum in 2017.
