I was raised in San Jose, CA. After high school, I headed East for college, attending Tufts University in Massachusetts where I received a degree in Biology. Moving to New England from California was nearly as big a culture shock as when I first arrived in the United States from Japan. I discovered bagels, before they became a national trend, baked beans, and the curse of the Bambino. Although I often longed for sunny California, I decided to continue my education at Tufts University School of Medicine, graduating in 1995.

My residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Baystate is the third largest acute care hospital in New England with 4,500 deliveries per year. During my residency, I received the "Resident Teacher of the Year award". I continue to enjoy teaching and you may find Stanford medical students working with me in my clinic.

After 12 long years in the cold and snow, I decided to move back West. I spent two years in a practice in Fairfield. Then in 2001, I returned to the South Bay to join Kaiser Permanente. I feel fortunate to be part of a wonderful organization that allows me to practice medicine and direct the care of each patient based on their individual needs and requirements.

I am fluent in Japanese and have number of patients who speak Japanese only.

Roles and Responsibilities

The majority of my time is spent at the Kaiser Permanente in Mountain View, and I perform my surgeries and deliveries at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. In addition to my clinical duties, I am also the Physician in Charge of the Mountain View Medical Center and Module leader for the Dept. of Ob/Gyn at Mountain View.
