About Me

While completing my undergrad at UC Berkeley, I took a keen interest in public health issues that end up shaping one’s overall medical health. That interest took me to medical school in Colorado where I admired an emergency room’s ability to not only treat various emergent medical conditions, but also act as a safety net for society’s most compromised. As I began to internalize the privilege of serving the highest acuity patients, I finally headed to New York for residency where I completed my training in emergency medicine. It wasn’t until my clinical rotations as a fourth-year medical student at Kaiser Permanente’s very own Bay Area emergency room where I first experienced the Kaiser system. I quickly learned Kaiser Permanente was a place that emphasized two key factors: patient satisfaction and physician wellness. It is that combination that I feel makes Kaiser Permanente physicians uniquely motivated to serve their patients.To that end, doctors often forget what it is like to be a patient and what their families go through. Towards the end of residency, my father succumbed to cancer and while going on endless appointments with him, I was constantly reminded of this blind spot doctors have. And so, it is that very reminder which humbly guides each one of my patient encounters. As an emergency physician, I know firsthand how difficult a patient’s visit to the ER can feel and so my goal for patient care is threefold: to primarily rule out any emergent conditions you may have, communicate results in a way you can appreciate, and have a shared decision making approach to your treatment plan. During that process, I aim to care for you and your family as my own. While I never wish to see anyone in the ER, I trust our team will do our best to make your experience as pleasant as possible.

Family and Friends

I am lucky enough to have been a Californian since 1990 and I am even luckier that my family never left. My immediate family resides in the Bay Area which includes my mother and sister (as well as her family). After residency, my wife and I returned to the same house I grew up in where we now hope to raise a future daughter of our own.

Hobbies and interests

Outside the emergency room, I enjoy playing and watching basketball, exploring films and music, hiking different trails, trying new restaurants, and playing the guitar.
