I grew up in a small town in Northeastern Ohio before moving to California to attend college at Stanford University, where I completed my undergraduate degree in 1993. Despite my Midwestern roots, I quickly fell in love with the diversity of people (and food!) as well as the many outdoor and sports opportunities in the Bay Area, and I have lived here happily ever since! Following my medical education and pediatric residency training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2003. Currently, I have a pediatric practice located at the Kaiser Hayward Sleepy Hollow office, and I also work in the intensive care nursery at the Kaiser San Leandro Medical Center. In addition, I teach medical students from UCSF, who will occasionally see patients with me in my office practice.
As a pediatrician, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to be an important part of the lives of your children, teens, and families! I strongly believe in education and prevention strategies, including healthy nutrition and physical fitness, as well as vaccinations. In addition, I also believe in the need to address the social and emotional stresses that may affect the health and well-being of children even through adulthood.
Ultimately, I trust that parents know their children the best! My responsibility as a pediatrician is to support parents and families by building confidence and knowledge toward raising healthy, happy kids. I think that communication both in and out of the office is extremely important, and I encourage the families in my practice to use our technological tools such as secure messaging emails and video visits to check in with me. I look forward to developing a lasting lifetime relationship with all the children and families that I meet in my practice!
