I am a Pediatric Hospital Based Specialist, which means that I only care for children during their hospitalization. I love the diversity associated with hospital-based medicine; every day is different. I deal with a variety of medical problems ranging from pneumonia and seizures, to cancer and post-operative surgical patients. I also am a transport physician, which means I transport critically ill children in an ambulance to and from other hospitals when they need more intensive care.  I find my profession extremely rewarding and I am dedicated to taking care of not only my patients, but also their families during such a difficult time in their lives.

I am originally from Nevada, but quickly knew I wanted to move to the Bay Area after I finished medical school. I did my pediatric residency right here at the Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. I then completed a two year, Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship at Oakland Medical Center and an Advanced Training in Clinical Research Program at UCSF.

Many of my own personal life experiences have made me a better physician. Each time I walk into a patient’s room, I try to put myself in their shoes and treat them as I would want my own family member to be treated. Taking extra time with families to answer questions and provide guidance and reassurance is something I take very seriously. 

I am also one of the associate program directors for the Pediatric Residency Training program here at the Oakland Medical Center. Working with residents and teaching them how to become better physicians is something I truly enjoy. I believe in a team approach to medicine, working together with nursing and the ancillary staff to provide the best care we can to all of our patients. I truly enjoy working for Kaiser Permanente, which is why I chose to join the medical staff after completing my fellowship here. As a physician-run medical group, we are able to provide the best evidence based medicine for our patients within one system, without having to obtain authorization or approvals from insurance companies.

When I am not working, I enjoy travelling with my husband and love anywhere with warm weather and sand. I also spend my free time exploring the beautiful Bay Area, visiting my family, cooking, and following the local sports teams!
